Who is responsible
The controller for personal data on History-Tours.com is Berlin Experiences DMC UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Gotlandstraße 10a, 10439 Berlin, Germany, managing director Matthew Robinson. Email: hello@history-tours.com. See also the Impressum.
Information about tour providers
We list business information that tour providers publish about themselves on their own websites, or that their guide association or licence register publishes about them: business name, website or official listing, tours, and business contact details such as a named owner or lead guide, a business email and a phone number. We record where and when we found each detail. We process this information on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), to run a public, free directory of history tours and to invite providers to manage their listing. When we hold a guide's details, we tell them so in our first email, with links to correct or remove the listing.
You can ask us to correct or remove a listing at any time through our correction and removal form, or with the one-click link in any email from us. When you ask us to remove a listing or stop emails, we keep only your email address on a do-not-contact list, so we never contact you again. Outreach email records are deleted 24 months after our last contact.
You have the right to access, correct, erase or restrict the processing of your data, to object to it, and to complain to a supervisory authority, for example the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit.
Suggesting a guide
When you suggest a guide, we store what you enter: the guide's name, website and place, why you recommend them, whether you are the guide, and, if you give them, your name and email address. We use your email only to ask a question about your suggestion. We delete your name and email as soon as the editor marks the suggestion as added or declined; the details about the guide stay as a research note. To stop spam, the form counts how often each internet address uses it. That count is held only in the server's memory and is never saved to our database.
Visitors
We don't use cookies for visitors, advertising trackers or analytics services. We count profile views and clicks through to a provider's website as plain daily totals, without any personal identifier, so providers can see how many travellers we send them.
Outreach emails are sent through Brevo, a French email service, which processes recipient addresses and delivery reports on our behalf under a data processing agreement, within the EU.
