Babyn Yar massacre

Days after capturing Kyiv, German SS and police units, with local auxiliaries, shot 33,771 Jews at the Babyn Yar ravine in two days. Over the next two years tens of thousands more, including Roma, Soviet prisoners of war and Ukrainian nationalists, were murdered there. Soviet authorities long suppressed the Jewish identity of the victims; memorials now mark the site.

Travel advisory. Russia's war against Ukraine: most governments advise against all travel to Ukraine, and Kyiv is still hit by missile and drone attacks. A Russian missile struck the nearby TV tower in March 2022. We list this event for reference, and don't list guides here until travel is possible again.
