Bucharest pogrom and the Holocaust in Romania

During the Iron Guard's rebellion of 21–23 January 1941, legionnaires attacked Bucharest's Jewish districts, burning synagogues and murdering about 125 Jews. Under the dictatorship of Ion Antonescu that followed, Romanian and German forces killed between 280,000 and 380,000 Jews, and many Roma, in pogroms such as Iași and in deportations to Transnistria. Most Jews of Bucharest itself survived the war.
