For 47 years Sigmund Freud lived and saw patients at Berggasse 19 in Vienna. There he developed psychoanalysis, the 'talking cure', and wrote The Interpretation of Dreams, published at the end of 1899, while his followers met in the flat each Wednesday evening. After the Anschluss the Gestapo questioned his daughter Anna, and in June 1938 the family left for exile in London.
