At an All-India Muslim League session in Lahore's Minto Park, presided over by Muhammad Ali Jinnah, delegates resolved that the Muslim-majority regions of north-west and east India should form independent states. Soon called the Pakistan Resolution, it became the League's central demand and led to partition in 1947. The Minar-e-Pakistan, completed in 1968, stands on the spot.
